Dodge County Housing Authority owns and operates housing units throughout Dodge County.
We are seeking a full-time, skilled and motivated Maintenance Technician with good people skills and a
positive attitude to join our team. The ideal candidate will possess strong problem-solving ability and the
capacity to work independently to prioritize and complete tasks in a timely manner.
This role will be responsible for a variety of maintenance tasks such as work order repairs, renovations
and preventative maintenance. Some on-call availability is required for emergency/after hour
maintenance duties.
Responsibilities
Preventative Maintenance
- Track work orders, inventory and maintenance schedules utilizing software systems
- Conduct regular inspections of buildings and equipment
- Manage and follow preventative maintenance schedules on buildings, units and grounds
- Maintain and order supplies inventory
General Maintenance
- Perform basic plumbing, electrical, HVAC, carpentry, drywall and painting maintenance tasks
- Including but not limited to unclog sinks and toilets, replace outlets, light fixtures and garbage
- disposals
- Trouble shoot, repair and install appliances – range, refrigerators, dishwashers, washers and
dryers - Provide excellent customer service by diagnosing repair issues in units and common areas
promptly and efficiently - Remove and dispose of garbage on community grounds to maintain community appearance
- Unit turnover maintenance and cleaning in a timely manner
- Some lawn mowing and snow removal as needed
Safety and Compliance
- Comply with fair housing/HUD guidelines, policies and practices
- Maintain a clean and safe work environment following safety guidelines
- Participate in team meetings and available training
- Schedule van maintenance
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent; technical or vocational training in maintenance fields a plus
- Knowledge of plumbing, electrical, HVAC, carpentry and residential painting techniques
- Hands-on experience in maintenance tasks
- Ability to use hand tools, power tools and diagnostic equipment (Tools provided)
- Ability to maintain equipment effectively while adhering to safety regulations
- 2 years experience in building maintenance (or similar experience) preferred
- Must be able to lift 50 lbs. Work regularly requires walking, stooping, kneeling, crouching or
crawling and reaching with hands and arms - Must be able to safely set up, climb and work on ladder to access roof or attic space
- Work will occur in business office setting, occupied and vacant residential units and outdoors
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail
- Strong communication and customer service skills with the ability to professionally address
concerns - Work independently and exercise good judgment in performing duties, resolving problems and
interpreting policies - Ability to handle sensitive interpersonal situations calmly, tactfully and maintain confidentiality
- Valid Driver’s license, reliable transportation and insurance required. Company van provided
(mileage reimbursement at IRS rate for personal vehicle use) - Applicants are subject to criminal background checks and drug testing
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $24.00 – $26.00 per hour
Schedule: 40 per week. Flexible schedule M-F, 7:30 am to 5:00 pm, On call as needed
